The Father Lazarus Moore Foundation was established in 2007 with the purpose of honoring the extraordinary life of Archimandrite Lazarus Moore (1902-1992+).
Fr Lazarus is widely regarded as one of the great missionaries and scholars of the 20th century. His translations of Orthodox Liturgical books are used in parishes and monasteries worldwide.
We endeavor to honor his life in Christ through publishing translations, speeches, articles and other manuscripts; with an internet presence posting biographical information and select works online; and through the Lazarus House, a unique ministry offering fellowship and housing situations for all ages with a particular ministry for end-of-life care in a warm, Orthodox Christian environment.
We are a nonprofit organization located in Port Townsend, Washington administered by volunteers touched by the life of Fr Lazarus.
Several ways you can help further the work of our Foundation include:
- Prayer
- Volunteering (typing, proofreading, archive organization)
- Contributing personal reflections and memorabilia
- Financial donations (primarily used for publications )
We are raising funds to research, write and print an extensive biography of Fr Lazarus Moore. The book, assisted by those who personally knew him, is based on Fr Lazarus’ diaries, extensive correspondence, interviews and recollections. Many of those working on this biography knew Fr Lazarus quite well.
