Greetings in the name of the Lord!

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Fr Lazarus Moore’s repose yesterday, the Foundation hosted an intimate gathering last night at the Lazarus House. Many pilgrims gathered for a panikhida, or memorial service, honoring Fr Lazarus.

Tearful memories, tours of his personal effects, sharing photographs, light snacks and British tea contributed to a sense of Pascha. It was a joyous evening. Several pilgrims even sensed his presence among us while celebrating the panikhida!

The Foundation continues receiving new and exciting documents from the Church of England on a weekly and sometimes daily basis.

Glory be to God for all things!

Today we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Fr Lazarus Moore’s repose!

This morning began with a surprise phone call from a gentleman in Canada of the Indian Orthodox Church, who was inspired to Google Fr Lazarus, came across the Foundation‘s site, unaware today marks the 20th anniversary of Fr Lazarus falling asleep in the Lord!It is a pleasant reminder of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Many areas of this site are updated. Fr Lazarus’ lectionary is posted for the first time, under the ‘Parts and Passages.’ These readings followed Fr Lazarus through his 92 years on earth.

Also made public for the first time is ‘Daily Broadcast,’ a talk given by Fr Lazarus in 1950’s India. Reflections commemorating the 20th anniversary of Fr Lazarus’ repose are posted too, including several newly discovered photos.

The Father Lazarus Foundation continues work on The Psalter. We collected exciting and new letters from England this week, adding to rich material for the upcoming biography.

Twenty years ago, Fr Lazarus fell asleep in the Lord, but his work continues drawing pilgrims, seminarians, monks, priests and children deeper into the richness of Orthodox tradition, and Christ’s love.

So as autumn frosts into winter, expect more website updates, including out-of-print akathists posted, correspondence, and a rough draft of the biography seeing substantial development!

Greetings in the name of the Lord!

This month we celebrate the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, commemorating the discovery of the True Cross in 326 by Saint Helena during a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

In reviewing diaries and photographs by Fr Lazarus we’ve learned not only some of his activities in the Holy Land but life celebrating Liturgy, tending the sick and translating. When he was working as a young man in the barley fields of Canada, Fr Lazarus’ heart heard the silent Word and his whole life switched gears.

Presently, The Father Lazarus Foundation is in the late stages of editing and designing The Psalter. We are busy working on a chapter of Fr Lazarus’ biography relating his twenty plus years ministering India and deepening his life in Christ.

The extent to which Christ’s revelation is made active in our heart tends to rest squarely on the very will He gifted us. Fr Lazarus heard Christ’s hand knocking on his heart, and said Yes. The Door opened not just once in his life, but every day, and every hour he embraced self-sacrificing love through prayer and watchfulness.

So as summer fades into autumn, expect some website updates, including transcriptions of homilies and progress on our work printing rare gems such as poems, biographical sketches and further translations of the Psalter.

Greetings in Christ!

Commemorated today are appearances and miracles of the Holy Archangel Gabriel.

The Lazarus House continues ministering the elderly here on the Olympic Peninsula. Meals are cooked, baths made, prayers offered and gardens planted and harvested.

We’re halfway through July already, and resources such as greenhouses, more egg-laying chickens, and fall and winter crops develop. The Lazarus House is working with the earth for smarter water collection, richer soil, healthier fruit trees, medicinal herbs and composting.     The Father Lazarus Foundation continues editing, designing and cataloging material for the Psalter, Fr Lazarus biography, homilies, diaries and maintaining this website.

We welcome you to come out and meet us!

Christ is born!

Commemorated today are St Basil the Great and the circumcision of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The Fr Lazarus Foundation is brimming with activity! Just this month, we began designing and editing a forthcoming translation of the Psalter by Fr Lazarus. Included with the psalms are an extensive and scholarly introduction, Kathisma Prayers, Canticles, footnotes, the letter of St Athanasius to Marcellinus on the interpretation of the psalms, and more.

Fr Lazarus’ translation of the Psalter is a timeless, unique and strong addition to any church, monastery and library. We look forward to a 2012-13 printing.

Another really exciting project through The Foundation is the comprehensive biography. Interviewing nuns, monks, friends and refugees, – among others, – we’re discovering a story not only of one man but all men in his journey into and through Jesus Christ. From England and Canada to Jerusalem, Greece and India the many paths of Fr Lazarus fold into one: answering God’s call to be a neighbor, a near one, to those in need.

This brings us into the next chapter of the Fr Lazarus Foundation, something we call the Lazarus House. The House is unique ministry providing end-of-life care for all ages in the warm, Christian atmosphere of understanding, dignity and fellowship here on Olympic Peninsula in Port Townsend, Washington.

We welcome you to come out and meet us!

We provide a variety of support, including living arrangements, healthy home-cooked meals, shopping and fellowship to engage the heart and minds of individuals and their families.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg!
